Licensing Requirements for the State of Virginia

Low-Voltage/Limited-Energy License: A statewide license is required for certain types of low-voltage systems.

Low Voltage Specialty Licenses:
Electrical Contractor (ELE)
Electronic/Communication Service (ESC)
Fire Alarm Systems

Electrician: A statewide electrician license is required.

Electrical Contractor: A statewide electrical contractors license is required.

Additional Information:
License required for any Electronic security business (any person engaging in the business of or who undertakes to install, service, maintain, design or consult in the design of any electronic security equipment to an end user or to respond to or cause a response to electronic security equipment for an end user).

Virginia Code Ann 9-182&183 repealed.

Following entry level training requirements, agent must complete in service training.
