Licensing Requirements for the State of Ohio

Low-Voltage/Limited-Energy License: No individual shall sell, lease, rent, plan, install, monitor, maintain, repair, test, or inspect a security or life-safety system for a profit or provide locksmith services for a profit unless that individual has an appropriate license issued pursuant to Ohio House Bill 41 Section 4770 as a technician, salesperson, or operator in one or more of the following specialties: access control system, burglar alarm detection system, closed-circuit television, fire alarm and detection system, locksmith services, or monitoring.

Electrician: A statewide electrician license is required.

Electrical Contractor: A statewide electrical contractors license is required.
