Licensing Requirements for the State of Minnesota

Low-Voltage/Limited-Energy License: A statewide license is required to perform work on low-voltage/limited-energy systems.

Low Voltage Specialty Licenses:
Power Limited Technician
Technology Systems Contractor

Electrician: A statewide electrician license is required.

Electrical Contractor: A statewide electrical contractors license is required.

Additional Information:
License is required for installation. Section 326.2421 prohibits the authorization, permit, franchise or license from, or payment of any fee, franchise tax or other assessment to any other agency, department, board or political subdivision of the State; however local units of government may assess a franchise fee to operators.
