Licensing Requirements for the State of Idaho

Low-Voltage/Limited-Energy License: A statewide license is required for certain types of limited energy electrical systems.

Low Voltage Specialty Licenses:
E-SC - Specialty Electrical Contractor
E-SJ - Limited Energy Specialty Electrical License (includes Alarm Systems Installations)

Electrician: A statewide electrician license is required.

Electrical Contractor: A statewide electrical contractors license is required.

Additional Information:
A license is required for all installations of wires and equipment to convey electric current and installations of apparatus to be operated by such current. Certain exceptions for limited number of residential installations apply.

A designated full time employee must take the specialty electrical contractors exam.
