Licensing Requirements for the State of Colorado

Low-Voltage/Limited-Energy License: No statewide license is required for design, installation and maintenance.

Statute governing electricians exempts installation, maintenance, repair or alteration of security systems from licensing requirements. Municipalities govern licensing requirements and compliance procedures for burglar and fire alarms. The individual county or municipality must be consulted. Some cities require monitoring license (e. g. Denver, Colorado Springs)

Electrician: A statewide electrician license is required.

Electrical Contractor: A statewide electrical contractors license is required.
