Default Simplex-4020

Hi folks.
I need some help with a simplex system.4020- mainly a wire diagram.

Here it is:
I have a loop that hits 3 ISO mods, there is a short on a cable.
I'm trying to find which one. I have the ISO mod involved, tracked the ckt down.
Affected devices- 1-heat detector,1 signall mod and 1 relay mod.
(my simplex verbage is bad)
I think I have it narrowed down to the loop with the A/V s on it.Reason I started there, during the test,1st pull station the A/V worked ,silenced, then the trouble came in.
as far as trouble shooting method, I'm good.
It is just a little tough not knowing what terminals are what.

I have a mod with the A/Vs labeled- it is a 24 term mod- 12 on each side.
loop on the right (looking at the face) -1,2+ 3,4- . left side -A/V- 7,8+ 9.10-.

on the right side all terms are used.now I have another cable marked 'mapNet',this is connected on the right terms 5-8.

whats gives? mapnet? and loop- i thought they were 1 and the same.

My loop on the good ISO's is 33VDC- on the affected one, when the short is removed and I get power, is 28VDC.

so I guess I am asking for a wire diagram of this 24 term signal mod.

thanx

mapnet is your addressable module loop. i'll see if i can dig a diagram up for you.

4020+System+Troubleshooting+Guide+Rev+A.pdf

Hope this is really helpful. Happy tracing!

Thanx Rudi-
looks very helpful.

I was back there on Monday.
3- mod reporting "no answer". I remove the 28vdc from the mods and power is good. thus eliminating a bad cable. Map net is fine.
However, when the 28v is landed to ANY of the 3 mods- it drops out.
A friend hooked me up with a simplex tech,he suggested start with new mods- Pricey ya, but I'm at a loss.doesn't seem like a wire issue at this point.

My guess, there was some unnoticed damage before-maybe to the sig card.
coz all I did was ring the horns then.....troubles appeard.so I think when the sig card switched power it did something to the map net- just enough to blow the 3 mods. ???

I'll keep ya posted when the parts come in.
