Default Personal "reporting " systems

Has anyone give though to selling "reporting" systems. I recently had a discussion with my Linear rep about these units and my ability to obtain insurance to cover these as a medical alert device. He says that they are not "medical" devices but rather "Reporting" devices. Would you say that the liability in selling these devices are the same or not the same? Or is there still a market for these items out there i don't know about.

There's a monitoring center out there (I think it's American Two Way) that pushes it and it's advantages pretty heavily.

I found out a few years ago that our local hospitals provide this service regularly and at a very small cost (no equipment/setup fees - 10 bucks a month) to patients (any) and have the local market covered.

I do use Linear for the few ones I do and my coverage covers it as a "personal emergency" service (no direct reference to "medical" in my insurance or contracts).

, thats just the answer I'm looking for. So in your service contracts you do not refer to it as a PERS unit as well? Because in my insurance application at asks if I plan to sell PERS units. Will that statement exclude you from insurance liability?

Perhaps you ask your Agent.
Their job is to pass any and ALL risk to you,at any cost.

I second that!

It's up to your carrier and your attorney (they will argue)

All's I know is if it's not a medical alarm, it's not a medical alarm...
