Old 09-24-2009 - If I can pull my own permit to do electrical work in my home do I still need to have the work inspected? Does that also include having a security system or cctv system inspected that I install myself? - Ask Your Question Here - Voltage Talk forum

When you pull your own permit, whether it be electrical, plumbing or building, you are still required to have the job inspected by the inspectors from the municipality that the permit was pulled. As far as the inspection for the security system or CCTV system it depends on the municipality. Do they require a permit for this type of work? If yes, then you have to have it inspected!

For a low voltage system for your own home, your are required to pull a permit by the city you reside in. They are not as strict with the home owners for obvious reasons and you should have no problems passing the inspection. You may call your city hall office for additional information.
